Balkan Barrier a Blessing?: Armenia, anyway, fails to “help” Turks in soccer qualification

Armenia missed their few chances and let the visitors score twice (and miss a penalty) to take a deserved win and collect all three points from Yerevan. Fortunately or unfortunately, this latest defeat increases Armenia’s chances for a less ‘aggressive’ Turkish side when they travel across the River Arax for a ‘fence-mending’ sporting event later this year.

Turkey is out unless Bosnia falters in its last two matches. Bosnia looked like world beaters last night against Turkey. Maybe the match against Turkey will not have any importance after all.

At last a victory over Belgium. We have to hire a good ARMENIAN coach from diaspora and pay him good. There are a few good diasporan Armenian coaches-spacially in South America. Just get rid of all this foreign coaches-they do not care about Armenian pride: they come for money and for gaining some experience.

Armenia should forfeit the match against turkey, because turkey is probably gonna win about 7-0, the way the Armenian NT is performing, the FFA should just avoid further embarrassment, because a huge loss against turkey it will be hard to live that down for a while. I suggest the FFA fire Hayrapetyan and his cronies, take a long time off, re-evaluate things, and restart everything from scratch. Someone should tell these guys in charge of the FFA that the present state of football in Armenia is a disgrace, and if they continue in this direction, things are only gonna get even worse. But the way Armenians from Armenia are they probably wont do anything to change things. I suggest hiring some Armenians from the diaspora to take reign of the FFA.

If the author believes that Armenia will face a less aggressive Turkish side in one months time, he is dead wrong!! As of today, Turkey will not qualify for the world Cup. They are in 3rd, 4 points behind Bosnia and in danger of not qualifying. The Armenia-Turkey match is the final match and it is possible that Turkey will need a win to get in. If Armenia does not field a side to WIN in Turkey and knock them out, then they should shut down the Federation.

Holy s***, i mean seriously how badly can we be disgraced? This is so embarassing that no Armenian wants to do with anything with our soccer team. Where is the improvment? i see only failure and corruption within the system. We were so great during the soviet times thanks mostly to the Armenian soccer players from Baku who joined FC Ararat and took Armenia to UEFA and beat such teams as GERMANY and Ukrain's top club. Ararat was the greatest back then. Its sad how we only been going downhill ever since. Everyone within the football federation must be FIRED! especially the president. The only show we had all these years was thanks to the Scottish coach i believe his name was portfield. In 2006-2007 after his death we recieved a new coach and still we had problems. There is no show. Nothing!! why such a waste in money when there is absolutely NOTHING happening right now. Only failure.

Is about time that fans in Armenia show their frustrations, i thought us armenians from the diaspora seemed more angry at the state of football in Armenia. I am also happy to see that fans finally are asking for the resignation of Rupen Hayrapetian, this guy should have been fired a long time ago. It is absolutely shamefull what is happening in Armenia in terms of football, not only in the National Team, and junior teams but the clubs. If they dont make any drastic moves soon, i believe Armenian football will cease to exist at least for a while. And unfortunately Armenia will lose wednesday agains Belgium to make things even worst. I am sickened as an Armenian.

What else would u expect from a team that have very little international experience. But I think the fans were a little harsh on the guys. Alas, they will hardly escape a defeat in Turkey. Armena are yet too weak to offer any opposition to such a strong side as Turkey no matter whether Turks will have a stimulus to play or not.
