Arguing over Karabakh: Heritage calls for recognition, Republicans say move mistimed

An opposition party in parliament has embarked on its second attempt in as many years to get the recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh by Armenia on the agenda of lawmakers in Yerevan.

The parliament’s minority faction of ex-foreign minister Raffi Hovannisian’s Heritage party has submitted to the National Assembly a draft law “On the Recognition of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic” which, the party’s parliamentary leader says, is aimed at preventing “upcoming undesirable developments.”

The propaganda department in Baku have put just another „propaganda trap“in front of untalented politicians in NKR and Yerevan. This time Baku is forcing PACE to “investigate the destruction of Azerbaijani monuments in occupied territories” and introduce “a report” , after amount of propaganda work is being carried out by Baku in the last 3 year. 5 Years ago -so called ICG (see the board members of ICG) - was allowed to travel to so called “occupied Azerbaijani land” and. The authorities in NKR did cave in to a “think tank” a or just a corrupt and biased private group – such as ICG, to act as a “saint”- A goats , which NKR cannot get ride of it so easily! . In the same time Azerbaijan has managed to prevent the visited of EU envoys to NKR and the visited of any international organisation to Nakhichevan. /Julfa. Now, authorities in Baku do intend to send a PACE delegation to the war areas in NKR and Nakhichevan.. Nakhichevan. was and is not a war area etc… Territories around NKR are military and security area. Most members and Jurnalist , who are part of usch “delegations” are working for the national security services in there respective countries (collecting information etc..). Therefore NKR should not agree to fall in such traps! Beside this destruction of Armenian monuments in Julfa … and the aggression of Azerbaijan against NKR (including using grad rackets) are two different issues , which authorities trying to combine with each other!

Indeed AB. Armenia has to make clear that it is recognizing the independence of NKR to ensure its security and also to make a strong statement to both Turkey and Azerbaijan. In my opinion, Armenia should first of all recognize NKR and then leave the negotiations to Artsakh. Why should Armenia decide for NK? NKR is a de facto independent state, it is handling its own affairs like it has always done also during the Soviet times, it has its own army and state institutions. They have other interests than Armenia, so that is why I think that it is wrong that another country is deciding for them. Nomatter what Armenia decides, NK will have the last word.

Me, as an Int. law expert, say this: It is HIGH time that Armenia recognises the independence of NKR. It is the only right step now and after the 2008 war. DO IT NOW. BRAVO Heritage party: You are the BEST party in Armenia. I do have big respect for you.

recognition of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic by Armenia would be the only right stept to show the international community the "red line"! Beside this the recognition of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic by Armenia would help the society in Azerbaijan to accept the reallty on the ground!
