Freedom of Religion 2009: U.S Dept. of State criticizes Armenia for few improvements in the freedom of minority religious groups

The Armenian Constitution provides for freedom of religion, however, the law places some restrictions on the religious freedom of adherents and there were reports of societal abuses and discrimination based on religious affiliation, belief, or practice, according to the International Religious Freedom Report 2009 released by the U.S Department of State.

The Armenian Apostolic Church has a privileged status not only within Armenian state, but also in minds and souls of Armenians. That's its historical credit. And I think exactly that does him a kind of disservice. I also belong to its congregation, because my parents baptized me in our church and it is a part of my national identity. But to be honest - Armenian Church doesn't care much to attract people, to speak to them, to address their problems, to try to satisfy their spiritual demands. Some of its servants (including some high ranking) don't really convey a feeling of spirituality. And participation (and not quite free of charge) in christening and wedding parties isn't really enough. Maybe some kind of competition is even not bad for them. I wish my Church wouldn't just take its advantage for granted, but would also develop and enhance its pastoral care, in order not to leave any space for other churches (let alone sects) for recruiting members in Armenian milieu both in Armenia and in Diaspora.

With these protocols signed and soon to be ratified, pretty soon Turks are going to be building Mosques in Armenia and intermarying (just like old times) all in the name of opening the border so that a few more Armenian Ogliagarks can get richer. They have sold out (just like old times). They have betrayed Antranig Ozanian.

What a joke! The U.S state department is always thwarting any attempt to clarify the reality of the Armenian Genocide for purely political advantage with Turkey. It stands on no moral ground to be pointing fingers at any one else.

When is U.S going to recognize the Christian Genocide committed by Turkey during WWW I and demand form its “democratic ally” ,Turkey, to stop her denial policy !? Armenia and Armenians are Christians since 301. Therefore there is frankly no need to export “Christianity” to Armenian. U.S better to export its "Christianity" and Freedom of Religion to his allay and "democratic" countries like: Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Afghanistan, Pakistan and Yemen and many others ….and recogniz

Oh my, Armenian Church sometimes targets "minority religions" with hostile sermons. Needless to say that "minority religions" target Armenian Church with hostile, false and defamatory sermons all the time. This is their main way of recruiting ignorant converts, but the State Department of course did not notice it.
