HPs in Every Home?: Computer pilot program exceeds expectations

Three months into its pilot project the “Computers for All” program is a clear success according to its initiators.

In September the Ministry of Economy of Armenia, Enterprise Incubator Foundation, Hewlett Packard, Unicomp, and Microsoft companies and ACBA Credit Agricole Bank started the program, aiming to promote the use of computers in Armenia.

Who told you about "old" computers? Instead of shaking the air just take a look at the program that really works. At least HP did something. Nobody else even tried. And if you are happy with cheap hand made PC for 200$ how this program will affect you? I don't see here any interferrence with existing PC market in Armenia which is already went down to low-end and low-quality service.

650 dollars for an HP desktop computer? are you selling them servers? you can assemble a computer for 200-300 dollars max, and it will function better than an HP. They are throwing away 'old' computers in the US that are more than enough for the average house hold. Why don't you look into shipping such computers to Armenia? someone with a $100-$200 salary will buy a $50 computer over 1 year, that will bring you up to speed.... Fill your pockets under the slogan "HPs in every home". I guess it is better than nothing, but don't expect a medal for this...
