"Sophisticated scanning equipment which is able to quickly scan people, cars and trucks for explosives, illegal narcotics, radioactive materials, etc." If a "terrorist" wants to enter Armenia with such contraband he isn't going to be using the official border crossings - but if he wants to do so then the payment of "customs duties" should help him to speed through even the tightest security regardless of what scanning equipment is being used.

John Aidiniantz $1 million allocated for buying golden gates. It is used for constructing sophisticated surveillance equipment. Sophisticated scanning equipment which is able to quickly scan people, cars and trucks for explosives, illegal narcotics, radioactive materials, etc. Equipment like that costs many millions of dollars, and $1 million per checkpoint is definitely not enough.

$2 million = $1 million per border gate? Surely the figures are wrong? Even if each crossing-barrier was made of solid gold and you threw in two colour television sets so that the border guards can watch the President making speeches on First National TV, this still seems like the most expensive set of barriers in the world.
