Piti: From the crock to “special fans”

Finding someone to prepare an Armenian ethnic dish called “piti” for this column proved harder than expected, as those approached most often said they knew how to prepare the dish, but insisted that it could only be made in a stone oven.

According to the Armenians everything was invented either by Armenians or in Armenia. Piti is an Armenian dish as much as I am King of England. The same way they claim so many dishes like dolma, bozbash, gefilte fish, dovgah, and many others to be Armenian. In the same token, the modern Georgia and Azerbaijan (including Karabakh - Turkish /Azerbaijan word BTW) are parts of the Great Armenia, WOW!!! - not other way around! Ridiculous! When are they going to stop steeling in a variety of aspects and to start leaving normal life like their neighbors in peace and prosperity? Pity to ordinary Armenian people! Western leaders should pay rather more attention to these people in order to protect them from local politicians and Armenia Diaspora's ambitions than to bombard innocent people of Libya, who never complained about their life. 2011-03-21

I love this recipe section! Ghapama, piti, great stuff....most of the Armenian food I grew up with it turns out was really Lebanese as my dad was Lipanahai...so it's great to have these recipes...
