Well sadly and this is normally the case, even the locals have no idea of what is going on... Correct that in 2005 Armenia lost 48-0 against Mexico and also lost 33-1 against South Africa. During an interview with the S.African goaltender, he humbly said that they felt sorry about Armenia and decided to give them a goal. This was done by the coach putting on a 6th man and for the penalty shot, the Goalie dived out of the way... Then Armenia was later banned from IIHF for 2 years as they listed an illegal team with all their players coming from the USA. This past tournament that took place in Yerevan, the Armenian team disobeyed all the IIHF rules and waited until 10 minutes before their game against South Africa to hand over their team list, which in the end turns out that they again played illegal players with their whole team playing in America. So the South African team did not play the Armenian national team (which they would have beaten hands-down), but rather a team from America. A sad state of affairs as when the American/Armenian team finally let one of their actual players on the ice, that he struggled to skate, let alone keep up with the pace of the game. After speaking to one of the South African players, they expressed that even though they lost to an illegal team, they were glad that they did not have to play the real Armenian team as that would not be fun at all, but rather to play in a tough hockey game, which the American Armenians put up. The South African team then went on to lose their next game but only by 1 goal and with 48 seconds left to the Korean team with a score of 3-2. This Korean team then went on to humiliate and beat the Armenian team infront of a packed crowd to take home the GOLD medal. Well done to them. Approximately 1 month later at the IIHF meeting, the Armenian team had once again been disqualified and banned from the IIHF tournaments for the next 2 years and a possible further banning. The Armenians have been stripped of their silver medals that they were awarded at the closing ceremony and have been sent to the South African team. South Africa's beautiful City of Cape Town will be hosting the 2011 IIHF World Champs Div III which is a combined tournament with both A & B groups rolled into 1. I hope that this feedback sheds some lights as to the real outcome of the Armenian, South African and Korean team. Regards, Kev.

interesting indeed. And not to doubt the ability of the AM team, i am wondering if the south Africans visited the Cavcas restaurant in Yerevan and had khash before the game!

This is interesting. Could you write something about the players of the team? Are there any players that have got their training in the diaspora? Looking forward to Korea and Mongolia being smashed. :)
