To Everything a Season: Turkey, Israel and the Moment of Truth

Yerevan—Today’s Turkey is the denialist bearer of the Ottoman execution of the great genocide and national dispossession of the Armenian people nearly a century ago.

Israel, the carrier-state of the Shoah which followed a generation later, has long been unconscionably complicit in the realpolitik relegation of the Armenian loss of life and homeland to the footnotes of inconvenient, expendable crimes against humanity.

I would say the Armenian people lost the Armenian highland 700 years ago. They lost it because they stopped struggling and started to emigrate. For that reason the Ottomans found it easy to take the Armenian homeland even though they were a small minority. It is easy to blame the Seljuks, ottomans, Turkmens, Mameluks, the British, the French, the Americans, Russians, Israelis, Ataturk, CIA, KGB, but the answer lies in examining ourselves and looking what we have been doing wrong and correcting those mistakes!

Except that Israel blatantly tries to monopolize on their holocaust when others bring up genocide and Turkey is always trying to project itself a champion of humanity and truth when all non-partisan, reasonable, independent, normal people considers that ridiculous. The perfect relationship is more like it...the perpetual victims.
