FIBA Round 1: Armenia, Moldova and Malta take opening day victories
Armenia’s women’s national basketball team were hardly accommodating hosts to a weak Gibraltar side, as the home team trounced the visitors 98-45 in first-round action of the FIBA Women’s European Championship Division C tournament that opened Monday in Yerevan’s Mika Sports Hall.
Led by (Americans) Amanda Jackson and Christine Kepenekian, who each had 22 points, Armenia never trailed as it dispatched Gibraltar early, leading 21-6 after one quarter (10 minutes) and expanding the lead as the game progressed. Reply |
