Analysis: Where is the Hillary of Zurich?

United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's visit to Yerevan has, no doubt, been an extraordinary event, if only for the rarity of such occasions. It has been 18 years since any US official of her rank came here.

Clinton’s visit was heralded by two strong statements: A G8 statement of the presidents of the USA, France and Russia said Armenia and Azerbaijan have to “take the next step and complete the work” on the main principles of the settlement of the protracted Karabakh conflict in order to begin drafting a peace agreement. The other statement came immediately after Clinton's visit, this time by OSCE Minsk group co-chairs and with a similar content.

Ehum, yeah right. "highest autonomy status" for us Armenians simply means another "cultural" and "ethnic" Genocide. All these Turkish refugees are actually recent transplants. Why doesn't Aliyev, (whose 11 years old son, mind you, bought 5 mansions in Dubai), build these so called refugees, villas on the Caspian sea with the petrodollars he steals to buy mansions in Dubai? Or better yet, I have no problem giving back Artsakh if Aliyev returns our lands in current day Azerbaijan, and that includes current day Baku, which mind you, used to be Armenian territory during Tigranes II reign. With the oil money that the Turks now have at their disposal, they can build a villa for every Turk in current day Azerbaijan, and that would include a tennis court and a swimming pool. But your president is fleecing (stealing/ enriching himself) your petrodollars and enriching himself. Conclusion: To my Anonymous Turkish friend: We "might" return some surrounding land to Azerbaijan, but Artsakh must either become independent or incorporated into Armenia proper.

Maybe Washington realised thats now on Yerevan and Stepanakert to take steps - the offers of Azerbaijan are ready (highest autonomy status). Since 16 years no progess is inacceptable when we see several hundred thousands of refugees in Azerbaijan, far from their occupied villages in the Karabakh surrounding districts.
