Still Puffing: Little improvement seen since adoption of tobacco law

More than a year since Armenia adopted a law limiting the use of tobacco, little has changed in the country’s smoking habits. Nearly 70 percent of men are smokers, and smoking among women continues to increase.

The law stipulates that smoking should be banned in all medical and educational institutions and that all public and state facilities designate smoking areas. Smoking should also be prohibited in public transport and at bus and railway stations.
