I welcome the talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia and I think the foreign ministers are doing a good job. However, I really hope the Azeri government will change its position, without harming the Azeri national interests. I do not know whether there is a question of territorial integrity or not, for the Nagorno Karabakh region, together with Nakhijevan, was put under the control of Soviet Azerbaijan by Stalin in 1921. Before NK was part of independant Armenia from 1918 to 1921. And even before that, the region has been part of several Armenian kingdoms during history, and Armenians have lived there longer than Turkic tribes. Also before the first Turkic tribes arrived from Central Asia, there were Armenians already living there for centuries. So historically Armenia has the right to have NK, or how the Armenians call it, Artsakh. The area of the Armenian Highland is the natural area of the Armenian people. The Turkic tribes come from another area, namely, the Central Asian area. Turkic languages are also spoken in Central Asian countries and even in parts of China. The Armenian language has always been spoken in the Armenian Highland and in Armenian Kingdoms. Many times Azeri people claim to be ancient people who always lived in this area. But then I wonder, how come for example Armenians or Persians or Georgians have their own script and Azeris dont. Or how come Armenian or Georgian are and have always been spoken in this area and Azeri is not. Azerbaijan was just established as a tool of the Ottoman Empire. The goal was to stand strong against Persia.
