Double Deprived: “High ranked”corruption affects orphans’ housing

At least 25 apartments purchased by the state using European Union grant money to be used by graduates of children’s orphanages are not fit for occupation.

ArmeniaNow reporters visited the apartments and found that some are constantly flooded with sewage waters, making them useless even for keeping animals.

Getting apartments for these young people, deprived of parents since childhood, and their children has led to illnesses generated by humidity. Some have left the apartments to escape being washed up by sewage waters. The apartments are all eirther on the first or the last floor, so, humidity penetrates from either above or beneath. The apartments were bought at prices several times higher than the market price, thus enriching some officials at the expense of depriving the orphans of comfortable conditions. Almost none of the apartments conform to the criterion for being “available for occupancy”.

It is high time to bring these (bandits) Armenian govenment officials to justice. Unfortunately, these bandits who are the left-overs from the former Soviet regime will not stop sucking the blood of the Armenian people, unless they are purged by the oppressed good people of Armenia. Imagine what happens to the million of dollars of aid raised by the Armenian Diaspora throughout the world. Stealing and lying is a way of life in Armenia. In spite of all these negativities, we must never stop helping our ancestral land personally or through honest organizations.

It's unfortunate the the EU grant was to the government. An honest Armenian non-profit (NGO) could have done so much more with the money. What a shame. The key is not to give the money to corrupt government officials.

Kamo, it's true we don't have wide perspectives of prosperity because of the blockade, but don't the Armenians of Armenia and the Diaspara have enough material and financial resources as not to starve our children and our orphans? Our nation is in such a deplorable situation because the billions that belong to people are being pocketed by our oligarkhic clans.

This is not our government. Its us not holding our government accountable...I agree that our government is out of control but only because we, as nation, are not keeping it in control.

Sam and others, I am so glad you have already understood what is going on here in Armenia. And I hope you know against whom and for what we are fighting. And if sometimes we don't pay due attention to the cause of the Armenian Dad and the recognition of the Genocide, it is not because we are unpatriotic, it is because we feel that the white genocide of the monsterish clan will bring the country to termination. We are as endangered now as in 1915.

Dear Armenians, wake up, this is the way Armenians live and work in Armenia. If they have any chance to steal, they will. This story is a drop in the ocean. I can't imagine that something can force Armenians not to steal. Good thing is that media and press are started talking about this problem.

This is a scandal! Has anyone brought this to the attention of the European Commission? I live in Brussels and know a lot of people in the EC. I can call up any commissioner you want and inform them of this criminal activities of the Serj Sarkisyan and his regime. Enough is enough, these guys should go.

It is enough to see these pictures in order to send to hell or prison the Kocharyan's and Sarkisyan's corrupted governments.

And we blame everything on the Turks, or Azeris by their "BLOCKADE" or we blame all our problems to others. This is our government who is not taking care of their citizens..not Turks..not Azeris..our own elected government who is suppose to take care of it's citizens. We have money flying in to Armenia from the Diaspora..no more donations to the greedy Armenian Fund..so this corrupt people will some day face the same living standards.
