Talks in Turkey: Yerevan, Ankara seek ‘total normalization of ties’

On the way of improving their historically strained relations Armenia and Turkey met at the level of their top diplomats in Istanbul late Monday.

According to official and media reports, the two countries’ foreign ministers, Edward Nalbandyan and Ali Babacan, had a working dinner at the Four Seasons Hotel in Istanbul, during which they discussed a range of issues pertaining to the region, including the Turkey-initiated cooperation and stability platform in the Caucasus.

The meeting was closed for media.

ARMENIAN AND TURKISH FOREIGN MINISTERS DISCUSS PULLOUT OF ARMENIAN TROOPS FROM KARABAKH 374 words 25 November 2008 Turan Information Agency (Azerbaijan) "Five issues have been discussed at the meeting between Armenian and Turkish Foreign Ministers Edward Nalbandian and Ali Babajan in Istanbul - creation of joint commission to study events of 1915, term of Armenian troops pullout from Nagorno Karabakh, opening of the Armenian-Turkish border, preparation of visit of Armenian President Serzh Sarkisian to Turkey and the platform of security and cooperation in the Black Sea," writes Turkish newspaper Cumhuriyet. In addition, Nalbandian will be offered to send Turkish Ambassador to Armenia to Yerevan without establishment of diplomatic relations. In response Armenia must agree to set up a joint commission of historians to study events of 1915.....

Nobody should be surprised if Turkish starts hanging 100´s of posters of president Sarkisjan in Ankara and else where in Turkey on 23/24 April. to tell THE US and the whole world bout “the start of reconciliation “ and try to mislead the world community… I am sure Turkish will do everything to exploit the date of Serkisjan´s short visit to Turkey till end of 2009!
