Armenia exported 9.6 million liters of alcoholic beverages worth about $132 million last year according to the State Revenue Committee. Alcohol was second only to copper concentrate in export value and increased by more than 30 percent over 2010.

The increase falls short, though, of the highest outgoing of spirits -- $134 million in 2008.

The price-per-liter showed significant increase since the peak in 2008. In 2008 the average cost was $9.80. In 2011 a liter went for $13.70. The sharp increase is said to be due to strengthened tax control.
