Connected: Education minister promises more schools with Wi-Fi
Speaking about priority programs for 2012 at a press conference on Wednesday, Ashotyan said upon his ministry’s initiative VivaCell-MTS will provide free Wi-Fi on the premises of as many as 107 high schools. “The implementation of the program will drastically improve internet access in schools and Internet will become available to pupils not only in a particular class but also on the entire premises of schools,” said Ashotyan, adding that the Ministry plans to increase the number of schools connected to the internet up to 1,403 this year. This year the Ministry of Education and Science also envisages the creation of a downloadable electronic resource that will comprise all textbooks used in school curricula.
