Sport: Armenia wants to host (Jr.) Olympics?

Olympics
Meeting International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Jacques Rogge in Switzerland on Monday, Gagik Tsarukyan, the President of the National Olympic Committee of Armenia (NOCA), expressed Armenia’s desire to host the third Junior Olympic Games in 2018.

According to a NOCA report (www.armnoc.am), Tsarukyan also offered the IOC and the European Olympic Committee to hold meetings of the executive committees in Armenia where “there are all corresponding conditions for that.” The NOCA president also stressed that Armenia has all necessary sport settings for “competitions of any scale.”

AB I agree, although some and I stress "some", are actually letting people cross in front of them when it is the pedestrians right of way. Of course you have some jerk from behind honking his horn when the pedestrian is crossing the vehicles path.

SOS: You are right... but in a "civilized country” the drivers should be the first to respect the right of pedestrians … Gov. should have a plan to educated drivers and pedestrians .. else tourists should be asked , to bring there cars with ;-)

It's not like pedestrians are angels either. They are also breaking the laws, crossing in the middle of streets, not using the underground walkways and crossing during red lights. Armenia should be able to handle these Olympics. We have the facilities for it.

Jonathan, being threatened by car drivers on a daily basis keeps your blood circulating and prepares you to face your day :). Also, it always provides you with a story to tell your colleagues. i'm so happy and proud that Armenia is preparing to host a junior's olympics. And basically everyone will be an athlete so crossing Yerevan streets and out-maneuvering cars shouldn't be a problem :D good thing seat belts are compulsory now, good start!

intresting ideas, why not ? but pls step by step! these authorities are not even ablte to regulate the trafic in a singel street in Yerevan... a solution could be, to buy for every singel Yerevanzi, starting from age of 10, a car! :-)

before requesting to host the junior olympics in Armenia, Armenians should first fix their animal like driving habits where pedestrians crossing under green lights are constantly threatened with their lives.
