The below commentator has a point: I have read from both Armen Ayvazyan and Richard Giragosyan and I have to admit Ayvazyan does a much better job. Allow me to justify: Giragosyan is way too 'theoretical' in his analysis. His analysis remain in a state of extreme complexity and stratospheric irrelevance. He does not 'boil things down' to their final expression. Ultimately his analysis are useless in Armenia ‘s context. Ayvazyan, has a very sharp and down-to-earth way of seeing things which I find quite brilliant. He always achieves a ‘final synthesis’ which Giragosyan consistently fails to deliver. So, I think Armenianow should publish articles by Ayvazyan too. He runs the Ararat centre.

He is too American brainwashed. His analysis is not Armenian. I do not take him serious. He can not compete with Armen Ayvazian and Ara Papian.

don't forget Russia and Turkey, rivals for a long time, in the last 10 years have become close economically. As to hatred in schools, that can stop quickly, on orders of the authorities. The media will also change its tune. If the elite in Azerbaijan decide that it is better to let Karabakh go, then attitudes will change. France and Germany were enemies for a long time. Russia and Ukraine - half of Ukraine can be thought of as Russia, it is a small group at the top that have distanced themselves from Russia. In Georgia, probably a majority in the country are more comfortable dealing with Russians than Americans or British etc. If not ten years, then 20, there will be moves toward convergence, to include countries like Kazakhstan, Mongolia, maybe Serbia, Moldova

Arevelk, i'm not sure if you live in Armenia and whether you read all the news coming from that region, although i see you here commenting on many articles so you are following the latest developments. But i have no clue how you can come up with such an idea that the countries you mentioned, in 10 years, might form an economic union. Ukraine and Russia????? maybe Georgia????? Azerbaijan and Armenia????? they are teaching their children hatred as we speak, so you have to wait at least for this new generation to die for a new generation to have the possibility of any union. Things don't just happen, European union didn't just exist, there was the right atmosphere for it which took years, and then finding a legal body to manage it.... and we're talking about friendly countries who call themselves one name: european.... for me this is a bed time dream.... There should be some grounds for optimism, that's how you can start prediciting the future....

" Armenians have seen that and won over them big time! the only enemy we are concerned with is Turkey" in 10 years or so there could be an economic union - Russia,Turkey, Ukraine, Iran, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Syria, Jordan..maybe Georgia. What if Turkey becomes a partner to Armenia instead of an 'enemy'?

Everything is being implemented according to the scripts written by so called “international crisis group” (ICG). There may be small cosmetic changes (e.f. delay in returning of5 or 7 regions etc..).. .Any way, the task of S. Sarkisyan and Nabandyan seems to be to sell the “capitulation” skillfully to the Armenian Nation! ANC of Levon will assist S. Sarkisyan and Nalbandyan in there task as much as possible ...

Yes Lavror is maybe for some related to armenians, from the fathers side, for that matter I consider all the armenians are Turkic as they are all related to Turks during the Turkish rule. Why is it so that nearly all armenians have Turkic surnames+ians etc...? As a Turk I know for sure that Turks would have Turkified a lot armenian girls the other would be inthinkable.

Mavzer, yes WE DO KEEP in mind that Azeris are just dreaming and waiting for a chance to reach Armenian-Turkish border and open it for their brothers / accomplices. And exactly that's why any return of NKR under the jurisdiction of Azerbaijan is impossible. Because the fairytales about "wide autonomy and security" for Karabakh Armenians in "democratic Azerbaijan" you can maybe tell your children as bedtime story, but not to us. And if you want turkish-azerbaijan border to be longer, than 7 km of Nakhijevan strip - then you have to risk your ass.

@Ulku Mavzer, The jokes on you. Lavrov is Armenian. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sergey_Lavrov

to Ulku whatever surname u have If Azerbaijan can invade Armenia and reach the border with Turkey, than what are they waiting for? I think that Aliyev's threats are empty slogans and shows aimed at internal PR, and you repeat the same language and threats, no one cares about Azerbaijan's capabilities, Armenians have seen that and won over them big time! the only enemy we are concerned with is Turkey, yes Turkey is enemy no matter what Clinton or Lavrov says and no matter what they force poor and little Edward and Serjik sign on behalf of all Armenians, Armenians never give up their national rights; .i.e Western Armenia and Karabagh, one more thing, by closing borders Turkey has violated international law, and by the same law this is an act of war...your government closed so you open it now, without any condition as Armenians refuse your silly conditions and Sargsyan Serjik does not represent Armenians...got it Ulku????? or Ulker???

@Harout: "The ONLY way Serj Sarkisyan can currently attract some attention to his participation to the match is if he does like British football fans: that he takes his clothes off and runs into the field naked showing his rear end to the cameras. Then yes, he will be on CNN, BBC, Euronews, Aljazirah, RAI, RTL, TV5Monde …. although I am not sure it will be a pleasant sight." But a major victory for Armenian diplomacy.

Giragosian’s analysis is naive. Allow me to explain : When Turkey does or says something it has the capability to ‘direct’ and ‘manage’ its PR effects. It can amplify, modulate and direct it in any way it wants in the international media and political field. When Armenia does or says something, the news is basically spread inside Armenia and into the Diaspora. So, the presumed effects of the Sarkisyan’s deeds and words are pure fantasy. We saw how naïve Sarkisyan was when he came to ‘talk’ to the Diaspora. He really came totally unprepared and unaware of what was going on out here. He essentially got boohooed back to Armenia by Diaspora. As to the Western media they didn’t even care to mention him. In fact Turkey even has the capacity to manipulate and misrepresent Armenia’s info. The info we got out of the Protocol signature was from Turkish media!!!!!! If Armenia wants to do and say things and that it actually has some effect it needs a serious professional PR and information agency etc. … It needs to build up ‘credibility’. It won’t build credibility by sending Dodi Gago or his likes in front of world media. So my conclusion is this: it really doesn’t matter if Serj Sarkisyan goes or not to the football match. No one cares really. At the end Turkey will chose the info it wants to spread. The ONLY way Serj Sarkisyan can currently attract some attention to his participation to the match is if he does like British football fans: that he takes his clothes off and runs into the field naked showing his rear end to the cameras. Then yes, he will be on CNN, BBC, Euronews, Aljazirah, RAI, RTL, TV5Monde …. although I am not sure it will be a pleasant sight.

The armenians really are either stupid or they live out of touch with reality. Lavrov ordered Edvard for to sign the protocols!!! One does not need to be expert that Edvard was very disoriented, perhaps he did not know what he was signing. Everybody in Turkey knows for 100% sure that the borders will not be open unless armenians withdraw from Mountenous Karabag. The Turkish prime minister and all the members of parliament stresses to the Turkish public that it will be a paralell process, opening the borders and withdrawal process out of the occupied Azerbaijani territories. Russia assured the Turks that they will handle the armenians. Today Sarikizyan visits Russian Federation for new orders from the lords of Moscow. Who is fooling who? This is the roadmap, Turks closed the borders for the violation of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, and it will only be opened after the occupation is ended. It is mentioned in the protocols in a open dual language in order to satisfy and fool the armenian population that Karabag problem is not linked to the normalisation process. Although it is blatently clear that it is linked. Turkeys relation with Azerbaijan is not a interest relation, it is a brotherly relation, a relation between two brothers. No interest or benificial relation with any party is above or more beneficial than our relation with Azerbaijan. Every relation with third countries is inferior to our relation with Azerbaijan. Turks will always consult their brothers and will only engage in a relation with the approval of our brothers. In other words armenians fate depend literally from the movements of the lips of the Azerbaijan's people. So armenians should have a long patience. At this moment Azerbaijan's armed forces are able to invade all armenia in a few days. I know this for a fact. Within a few days Azerbaijan's armed forces will reach the Turkish border. Yes only than we will immediately open the borders for to welcome our brothers. KEEP THIS IN MIND!!!

While I agree with Giragosyan's analysis and point of view, I still think the polite thing is for Sargsyan to visit Turkey...It doesn't mean he's making any concessions by attending the match...on the contrary...it shows strength of character to be able to visit the enemy and remain firm in our beliefs...! Not goung to Turkey is not an option fot the President of the ROA...at this poin he has nothing to fear from a bunch of coward in Ankara.

a positive way of looking at things.... which isn't a wrong thing to do. I am curious about one thing though, all i read here is remarks against President Sarkissian, but it can't be that everyone is against his latest steps, where are the supporters? are they silent or many of the people commenting here refuting the protocols are actually supporting it just because it is cool to always be on the contrary? Is it possible to support President Sarkissian at this crucial time knowing that not supporting him by Diaspora and Citizens will only weaken him and make him even more vulnerable, hence, damaging Armenia further? If those protocols are anyway passing and nothing is going to change, i believe supporting the current status quo is better than keep shouting every day against those protocols if no change is possible. It will be as if we are shouting now to tell our kids that we shouted 'back then', or a party looking for some political gains in the future... which is sort of meaningless unless a change is possible... Just a different perspective on things, maybe you can embarrass and humble the 'corrupt' into being more responsible and democratic...
