Drawing lines: Billboards promoting Made in Armenia goods said to compromise Karabakh cause

A campaign promoting the consumption of goods of Armenian make has inadvertently questioned the current territorial integrity of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) by depicting it within its former Soviet borders on promo billboards in Yerevan.

Such billboards that appeared in Yerevan streets this week as part of the “Let’s Buy Armenian” campaign, present a map on which NKR is shown within the borders of the Nagorno-Karabakh autonomous region (NKAR) that existed as part of Soviet Azerbaijan until it broke free of Baku’s control with the collapse of the USSR.

This "map" shows the political boundaries of lands that are Armenian. It is not meant to represent current occupying boundaries. It doesn't bother me at all. To show Kelbajar, ect as ours doesn't make "business sense". The lands we "occupy" are for our own security and we will keep them until the threat is gone. This is the official Artakh position. Even the Artakh republic acknowledges that boundary of Artsakh as theirs, right? Some of it is under azeri occupation, and as such, I don't see this as a threat to Armenian sovereignty. When Arsakh claims Kelbajar, ect as their own, THEN I will except all Armenians to honor those borders. It's a very beautiful poster and I would love one in my house. Haik, they have privatized state industries, and what they haven't "sold" to Russian firms they kept for themselves. Leon, sounds like your community should contact wholesalers in Glendale so that you can open up stores down under. There are literally tons of items for sale that are made in Armenia.

I find it unpatriotic not putting Karabakh's complete map for any matter. Armenians in Armenia must be aware that Karabakh has been Historical Armenian lands for thousands of years; therefore it's inhabitants has been and are Armenian. The same nationality, same culture, same interests and for the same existence. If may God forbid Armenia loses Karabakh, Armenia will cease to be a free Armenian State and Country. Open up your eyes my dear brethren in Armenia, as Karabakh is yours and you are Karabakhs. Always remember that!

Haik your analysis is disasterous, i hope very few people think like you in AM. I gave my point of view a lot on this site so i'm not going to reiterate the same things... So here is it in brief: Think that there is no spurk when you want to deal with corruption in AM. This is AM citizens task, it is an internal job. Spurk can support AFTER a major movement in Yerevan, not before. You depending on Spurk for this is just simple laziness, good luck waiting for nothing to happen.... Factories need a market, also honest and educated population. There are a lot of highly educated ppl in Yerevan but very few are honest. Just like you, some look at spurk as $$$, nothing more. And you wonder why so many few Spurk returned to AM? They go there, locals take advantage of them, robb them and then they have to leave... Spurk is a bonus to AM, u cannot ask them to do anything, it is amazing that so many millions out there still call themselves Armenian. See it as a blessing and support but don't think they are going to get rid of the oligarch for you, that's your job, anything else is just venting and has nothing to do with reality. Any non-corrupt country will pray every day to have a spurk like Armenians. because they are willing to visit and invest in a country that has given them nothing tangible in return. but some AM citizens need more, they want spurk to fix their internal problems and then go back to where they came from... again, the $$$ mentality...

I am afraid that is an ominous sign what is to come, a complete capitulation by the Armenian side. What an irony, Aceh and Kosovo can obtain independence and Western recognition and Armenia can't. What is made in Armenia? Stores in Western societies are full of goods made in Turkey, from Hugo Boss suits to Azeri pomegranate juice. If the so called Western Armenian businessmen and the local government had any brains, they would have opened factories in Armenia to create jobs. Instead our leaders in Armenian communities raise money for a school and call it nation building. If our post independence leaders hadn't taken Western advice and privatized state factories, Armenians wouldn't have been out of work and we wouldn't have to start from scratch. But someone had to get rich at the expense of the ordinary folks.

They are greasing you guys up for the big Khazigh. In the U.S., there are going to be major boycotts of Turkish and Armenian products. Our monies and blood to develop Artsagh all went to waste thanks to this traitor and his oligarch friends. May they all go to Jahenem and quickly.
