Beside the concerts, the musicians will also conduct a workshop/master class for music students at Gyumri Conservatory. The Apple Hill Chamber Ensemble was founded in 1973. Since 1988, the Apple Hill Chamber Players have annually toured the Middle East, Europe, and other parts of the world, as well as all corners of the US, performing concerts, conducting master classes, and awarding Playing for Peace scholarships to bring musicians of conflicting cultures and diverse backgrounds to Apple Hill.

CONSEQUENCES OF VISITING KARABAKH: The well-known Russian singer of Armenian origin Irina Otieva will not be allowed to take part in the jazz festival held in Moscow Oct. 26-27 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the death of Vagif Mustafazade, reported Arminfo according to Echo (Baku) newspaper.

In an interview to Echo the general producer of the festival Etibar Jafarov said the singer will be excluded because she had previously given concerts in Karabakh.

ART BIENNALE IN BEIJING: Karen Aghamyan, head of Artists' Union of Armenia, painters Felix Yeghiazaryan and Karen Hovakimyan took part in the 2nd Beijing International Art Biennale from September 20 to October 20. The Biennale drew participants from 60 countries with 500 pieces to exhibit.

CAUCASIAN FESTIVAL: The "Sayat-Nova" Cultural Union jointly with UNESCO held the first Caucasian International Festival of Folk Music Art in Armenia dedicated to the 210th anniversary of Sayat-Nova´s death. The Festival drew 120 participants from Armenia, Georgia, the US, Russia, Spain, Iran and Turkey.

CULTURAL DAYS IN SWITZERLAND: Within the period of November 8-20 “Cultural Days of Armenia” will be organized in Switzerland. Armenian duduk player Gevorg Dabaghyan will have solo concerts during the event. On November 9-10 he will represent Armenian duduk in Basel; on November 13 he will have a recital in Geneva and on November 19-20 solo concerts in Zurich.

NEW BOOK: In Ottawa (Canada), on October 20, took place a presentation of a book, called "Like Our Mountains. A History of Armenians in Canada". The presentation was organized by the "Canadian Armenian Network" organization.

The author of the book is Isabelle Gabrielian-Churchill, a professor at the University of California and a historian noted for researches on Armenian history and immigration. The book is dedicated to the history of Armenian community of Canada. The book contains 704 pages and over 40 photographs. The book also includes interviews with Armenians who survived the Genocide in 1915.
