Angela Mouradyan, 65, climbed to the top of her house on Buzand Street Thursday and threatened to jump, rather than be evicted by developers who are demolishing buildings on her street as part of the Main Avenue project in Yerevan. Armenia's "red beret" Special Forces were sent to enforce evictions. Mouradyan's family was offered $17,000 (minus 10 percent tax) for the house she has lived in for 40 years and in which her husband was born. Nine people are said to have lived in the 40-square meter house.
