Soccer: Pyunik settle for bronze as Gandzasar savor runner-up spot


The Armenian Premier League’s 2011 season ended at the weekend, with Uliss (53 points) taking the championship and Pyunik’s 10-year run at the top ending with a third-place finish (46 points).

Gandzasar tied Pyunik in points and finished second.

Thus, Gandzasar and Pyunik will represent Armenia in the Europa League next year, while Uliss will get their first-ever taste of the Champions League preliminary stage.

Ararat fell behind the other seven teams in the league standings with only 10 points in 28 matches.
