SOS: Activists set to appeal to rock star for ‘environmental song’
Forest: Serj Tankian, System of a Down SOS Teghut is going to write a letter to former System of a Down lead vocalist Serj Tankian asking him to author a new song that would expose environmental problems in Armenia. “Considering the fact that he regularly raises in his songs issues connected with human rights, we have decided to make that offer to him. Besides, we will offer him to come to Armenia with a concert program dedicated to environmental issues,” Hrair Svazyan, a young SOS Teghut activist, told ArmeniaNow. The activists think this way they can stop the continuing logging of trees in the area around what is now being developed as a copper mine. Tankian, an American-Armenian singer and songwriter, is known for his civil advocacy reflected in his compositions, including for his lobbying of the Armenian genocide affirmation, human rights and animal rights.
