European champion Hrachik Javakhyan
Hrachik Javakhyan (w.c. 64 kg) has brought Armenia a boxing gold medal at the European championships in Moscow, Russia, that ended this past weekend.
In the final on Saturday Javakhyan beat a Hungarian rival on points 3-2 to take the continent’s title.
Another representative of Armenia at the Moscow championships, Artur Khachatryan (w.c. 81 kg), had to settle for a bronze medal after losing in the semifinal, as did Hovhannes Danielyan (w.c. 48 kg), who also won the bronze.
Meanwhile, the championships brought success also for an Armenian boxer representing Russia. Misha Aloyan (w.c. 51 kg) achieved a 4-1 victory over his British rival in the final and also won the European champion’s title.
