The New York Jets (an American professional football team) hoped to win their conference last Sunday and advance to Super Bowl XLV. Confident of beating rival Pittsburgh Steelers, the Jets had boxes of caps and T-shirts pre-printed bearing their name and logo as “Conference Champions”.

Oops. While the T-shirt might lie, the scoreboard (24-19) didn’t – revealing that it will in fact be the Steelers in the mega-sport event February 6.

So what happens to the “Conference Champions” gear? It’s coming to Armenia! And to Zambia, Romania and Nicaragua, via the National Football League’s contribution of the stuff to World Vision – a Christian-based organization that does great (if in this case historically-inaccurate) poverty-relief work in Armenia and elsewhere.

When the goodies make it to Armenia in March, the erroneous Jets souvenir fashion will likely arrive with other pre-made items reflecting the lost hopes and lost game of either “Super Bowl Champion” Pittsburgh or Green Bay.
