Armenia’s top soccer league 2010 to kick off this month


The Football Federation of Armenia has confirmed the schedule of the Top Division national soccer championship in 2010. According to the information published by national soccer’s governing body Tuesday, eight teams will be vying for the trophy in the season opening March 27 and lasting till November 14.

Pyunik, Mika, Ulis, Banants, Kilikia (all Yerevan), Gandzasar (Kapan), Shirak (Gyumri), and Impuls (Dilijan) will go 28 rounds playing each other four times – on a home and away basis.

In Round One on the weekend of March 27-28, the fixtures are as follows:

Kilikia v Gandzasar; Shirak v Pyunik; Mika v Banants, Impuls v Ulis.

Pyunik have dominated the domestic league in the past decade, winning nine national titles in as many seasons since 2001.
