The six nations involved in qualifying Group B of UEFA Euro-2012, including Armenia, will decide their fixtures through an UEFA draw, it emerged on Tuesday after Armenia voiced its objection to the schedule approved by the rest.

Armenian Football Federation Vice-President Ashot Manukyan and FFA National Teams Division Chief Edgar Manukyan were in Russian capital Moscow March 15-16 to agree a schedule of qualifying matches with representatives of the rival nations in the qualifying group, including Russia, Slovakia, the Republic of Ireland, Macedonia and Andorra.

As reported by the Football Federation of Armenia (www.ffa.am), following long discussions in Moscow the delegations of the Republic of Ireland and Slovakia suggested a jointly drafted schedule of fixtures that was approved by all delegations besides Armenia. The FFA presented no details of the suggested schedule, but quoted the Armenian delegation as saying that it wasn’t suitable for Armenia and therefore did not receive its signature.

Under the existing rules, it is now up to UEFA to decide the schedule of fixtures in Euro-2012 qualifying Group B by staging a draw.

The qualifying matches in the Group are scheduled to be played according to the international match calendar between September 2010 and November 2011. Only the winners of the nine qualifying groups and the best runner-up will qualify directly for the final tournament to be co-hosted by Poland and Ukraine in the summer of 2012. The eight remaining runners-up will contest play-off matches for the remaining four spots.
