Finding and appreciating those deserving is the most important mission of the State, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan stated on Thursday during a ceremony of handing his presidential awards to about two dozen scholars, artists and other professionals who distinguished themselves in different spheres of activities during 2015.
“We believe that every serious work should be recognized and appreciated. And the program of this award was instituted and implemented with this very logic,” Sargsyan said in his remarks.
Among those who received the Presidential Award was also Armenian American writer Peter Balakian, a recent winner of Pulitzer Prize for poetry. He got the award for his significant contribution to the Armenian Genocide recognition.
