Universiade 2013: Boxer brings bronze to Armenia

Boxer Henrik Mokoyan (56 kg) has won a bronze medal for Armenia at the 27th Summer Universiade being held in the Russian city of Kazan these days.

In the semifinal bout the Armenian lost to Russia’s Sergey Vodopyanov, which still allowed him to earn the first medal for Team Armenia in Kazan.

Artur Kirajyan (64 kg) has reached the final, securing at least a silver. His bout is scheduled for tomorrow.

Armenian athletes are represented in 10 sports at the current Universiade: weightlifting, boxing, belt wrestling, judo, sambo (unarmed self-defense), chess, track and field sports, swimming, Greco-Roman wrestling and freestyle wrestling. The games will be held until July 17.
