Chess: Aronian slightly up in latest FIDE rating

Top Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian went up by two positions on the latest rankings of international chess’s governing body, FIDE, and is now eight with a rating of 2780.

The June 1, 2015 update of the list ranks Norway’s Magnus Carlsen, the reigning world champion, as the top player with a rating of 2876, followed by Italian American Fabiano Caruana (2805) and India’s Viswanathan Anand (2804).

The latest Top 100 player rankings of FIDE also include Armenian grandmasters Gabriel Sargissian (position 68; rating 2673) and Sergei Movsesian (position 91; rating 2655).

The FIDE Top 100 female players list includes two Armenian grandmasters: Elina Danielian (position 30: rating 2470) and Lilit Mkrtchyan (position 40, rating 2451). China’s Yifan Hou tops the rankings with a rating of 2676.
