Regnum Report: Sargsyan-Aliyev-Medvedev do-over two weeks away

June 24 of 2011 summit in Kazan

According to a Regnum news agency report citing an "informed" source, President Serzh Sargsyan and Azerbaijan President Ilhim Aliyev will have another meeting January 23-24 at the request of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

The meeting is said to be planned for the Russian Black Sea city of Sochi, and would be another attempt by Medvedev to bring the sides together to encourage settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh problem.

The Russian president has organized numerous such peace-process sitdowns during his nearly four-year presidency. Following a disappointing result at mediation last June in Kazan, Medvedev essentially said that he was finished trying to bring the sides together.

Late last month, however, Medvedev said he believes the long-running dispute between Armenia and Azerbaijan is the only of the region's "frozen conflicts" that can imminently be resolved.
