Police for people: Top cop briefs Armenian law enforcement on election period conduct
Chief of Armenian Police Vladimir Gasparyan summoned law enforcement representatives on Friday to stress the key roles and responsibilities of police officers during the forthcoming parliamentary elections.
“Ensuring the accuracy of voter lists should be the personal responsibility of each of you,” he said.
Gasparyan reminded his subordinates of the importance of enhancing their public profile by acting upon best of their knowledge and competencies.
“We are the police of our people. Your strongest weapon should be your knowledge, competence and professionalism in dealing with all kinds of complicated situations to ensure properly organized elections,” he stressed.
“Our people can live with the lack of practically anything, but they cannot live with the lack of justice. So the best gift to our people should be the police that are apolitical, with no party affiliation, that know their duties and responsibilities, act within the norms of ethics and never take any liberties.”
“We should function within the limits of law, legality and smile,” Gasparyan added.
The chief of the Armenian police force also stressed that these are the assignments set before them by the Commander-in-Chief of Armenia, President Serzh Sargsyan.
