AGBU delegation welcomed by the Prime Minister
In his greeting remarks, the Prime Minister stated in part: “We highly appreciate your mission and express readiness to back all those undertakings and noble deeds implemented in both Armenia and the Diaspora seeking to preserve the Armenian identity and strengthen Homeland. On behalf of the delegation, Perch Sedrakyan thanked the Prime Minister for kind words and advised that they are in Armenia to attend the ceremonious opening of the neurovascular surgery center by the Yerevan State Medical University. This medical center of regional importance was said to have been established through the efforts of the Armenian General Benevolent Union in the person of renowned philanthropist, AGBU board member Nazar Nazaryan who has donated USD 1.7 million to that effect. He noted that the AGBU-Armenia cooperation and contacts have been strengthened over the past few years, in particular, and despite the global crisis, the AGBU will continue supporting Armenia.
The Prime Minister thanked the delegation especially for their valuable contribution to the cause of developing chess in Armenia. With regard to Armenian identity-related issues, Tigran Sargsyan cited the example of Luys Foundation and suggested cooperating with this newly established entity to get students from the Armenian Diaspora involved in the projects of pan-Armenian importance.
