E-approach: New gov’t website to make things more “dynamic and transparent”

A new government website launched this week attempts to concentrate all electronic services provided by state agencies in one place. A government representative says the purpose of creating this new option as well as upgrading the existing official website is to achieve more “dynamism and transparency”.

The new data portal (www.e-gov.am) will function alongside the government’s official website (www.gov.am). Among the options it offers is also a tool for “Interactive Budget” to find detailed information about and track changes in the government spending of public money. Unlike the official website run in Armenian, English and Russian, the E-government site is only available for reading in Armenian.

“This is the first step. We are far from saying this is a complete site providing answers to all questions. That’s why we continue to work towards assembling all existing e-services in one place,” said chief of government staff David Sargsyan at a presentation on Monday, adding that new features will be added to the site in the coming months.

Information on he new website includes decrees and decisions by the government and the prime minister. The site also provides tools for writing an e-mail to the government and following its status, submitting tax reports and applications to the Intellectual Property Agency (such as inventions) electronically. It also gives options for receiving an e-visa and e-signature.
