Super Heno!: Armenian soccer player sets new goal-scoring record for Ukrainian championship

Armenia international midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has scored twice for his team, Shakhtar Donetsk, in Round 28 of the Ukrainian Premier League to set a new goal-scoring record for the championship.

Before the Saturday game against visiting Tavria (Simferopol) Mkhitaryan has scored 22 goals for his side, which matched the record of two other players who scored the same number of goals during one season in independent Ukraine’s top division in previous years.

The 24-year-old Armenian, who needed just one goal for the new record, struck twice in the second half of the game to help Shakhtar rout the visitors 5-0.

“I had very pleasant feelings after I scored my 23rd goal,” said Mkhitaryan after the match. “Seeing how my teammates were celebrating gave me much more pleasure. I am grateful to the guys for helping me to score. I think this has been the record for the whole team.”

Mkhitaryan has two more games to play for Shakhtar in the regular season in which he can improve his record.
