Soccer: Karabakh ends ConIFA World Cup by routing Laplanders

The soccer team of Nagorno-Karabakh ended their participation in the first-ever World Cup for associations outside FIFA by registering yet another victory.

In the second Placement round on Saturday, Nagorno-Karabakh beat the hosts, Sapmi, the team of the indigenous Finno-Ugric people better known as Laplanders, 5-1.

Earlier, before thrashing Darfur 12-0 in the first Placement round, the Karabakhis lost to Ellan Vanin (Isle of Man), 2-3, and County of Nice, 0-1.

County of Nice went on to win the 12-team tournament that was held in Ostersund, Sweden, under the aegis of the Confederation of Independent Football Associations (ConIFA).
